Last week SB 973, the Save Our Events Act, was killed in the Assembly Natural Resources Committee. This bill sought changes to CEQA to allow exemptions to special events held at parks throughout the state. CPRS joined the Save Our Events Coalition which grew to more than 250 members up and down California.  This bill brought to the attention of the Governor, Senate, and Assembly some glaring flaws regarding the way limited duration, date certain events, are treated under CEQA. CPRS supported the original version of SB 973 but later withdrew its support due to changes in the bill language as it went through its hearings.
