    Help fund your education and invest in your future! Apply today for a CPRS District 10 Scholarship!

    The California Parks and Recreation Society District 10 Scholarship Committee offers scholarships to assist noteworthy students in fulfilling their goal of entering the Parks and Recreation profession. The Committee annually awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate-level students majoring in recreation, parks, leisure studies, and closely related fields throughout District 10. Award amounts are generally between $250-$1,000.

    Who is Eligible?

    • Scholarships are available for students majoring in all aspects of recreation, parks, park operations, recreation therapy, commercial recreation, tourism, community recreation, aquatics, and recreation leadership.*

    *If you are not in a degree program in a related field, you must be working in a field mentioned above.

    Requirements*

    Applicants must live, work, or attend an accredited college in the District 10 area.

    • Undergraduate applicants must have: overall GPA 2.5+, full-time status of 12+ units (or quarter equivalent), and are working 12-30 hours a week.
    • Graduate Students must have completed at least 9 units for full-time status or 3 semester units and be working 12-30 hours per week with an overall GPA of 3.0+.

    *Only completed applications with faculty recommendation, professional recommendation, and transcripts will be eligible for review.

    DEADLINE TO APPLY: TODAY, Friday. January 12, 2024 at 11:59pm

    Scholarship Interviews: Thursday, February 22, 2024

    Scholarship Award Recognition: Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the D10 Awards & Installation Banquet

  • Start the New Year Right! Attend the Administrators Section Executive Summit

    When:  Jan 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM (PT)
    Associated with  Administrators Section

    Parks and Recreation Master Plans, Park Specific Master Plans, Strategic Plans…That’s a lot of plans. Led by staff from Blue Point Planning, this session will discuss the differences between these documents, various approaches to them and effective strategies for community engagement. You will also hear from professionals in the field about successes and pitfalls in development and implementation.

    Sign up once, invite your team, and attend all 3 sessions!   This is a great way to collaborate with your team, engage them in some industry learning, and have a debrief after each session on how you can apply your learning to your agency!

  • CFPR 2024 Foundation Cup Golf Tournament Registration

    The California Foundation for Parks and Recreation (CFPR) welcomes golfers to register for the annual Foundation Cup to be played at @Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Player check-in begins at 6:45 a.m. with tournament shotgun start at 8 a.m.

    Player registration is $230/golfer with registration open for a twosome or foursome and includes green fees, golf cart, swag, player breakfast, player lunch, and amazing fun with your fellow conference attendees.

    Fall Recreation Leader Training Consortium (RLTC)

    Geared towards part-time recreation staff and students, the Recreation Leader Training Consortium (RLTC) is an award-winning program that offers trainings related to professional and personal growth including job advancement, work-life balance, and more! 

    Join us Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Murdy Community Center in Huntington Beach for a fun day full of learning, activities, and networking. 

    Fall Sessions include:

    • The Imposter Phenomenon
    • How to Stand Out as a Part-Timer
    • Intro to Social Emotional Learning
    • Staying Motivated Throughout Part-Time Work.

    D10 Dues Relief is open to all Members! D10 provides Dues Relief to remove a financial barrier that would prevent members from attending events, trainings, and or renewing their membership.
