Park Forum is happening this Thursday, January 25 from 9AM - 2:10PM (check in begins at 8AM). There are 12 different education sessions and a keynote presentation, all of which are eligible for CEU's! Registration is only $35 per person or $160 when you register 5 attendees! The 2024 Park Forum will take place at Maidu Community Center in Roseville, CA on Thursday, January 25 from 9AM - 2:10PM (Check-in begins at 8AM) and the day includes 12 educational sessions, lunch, opening keynote presentation from Hayward Area Recreation & Park District's General Manager, Jim Wheeler and more!   • CFPR 2024 Foundation Cup Golf Tournament Registration

    The California Foundation for Parks and Recreation (CFPR) welcomes golfers to register for the annual Foundation Cup to be played at @Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Player check-in begins at 6:45 a.m. with tournament shotgun start at 8 a.m.

    Player registration is $230/golfer with registration open for a twosome or foursome and includes green fees, golf cart, swag, player breakfast, player lunch, and amazing fun with your fellow conference attendees.

  • General Membership is One Week Away - Register Today!

    District 2's General Membership Meeting is only one week away, REGISTER HERE TODAY! The meeting is only $20 to attend and will be at the North Natomas Community Center located at 2601 New Market Drive in Sacramento on Wednesday, December 6 from 3-5PM and will include appetizers. The first hour will include opportunities to network, small group table discussions and an Administrators Section meeting. The final hour will feature a quick D2 update and keynote presentation from Kristi McClure Huckaby, an Advocate for Parks & Recreation for Life! Please read a short message from Kristi below:

    We need ALL candidates, whether for the CPRS State Board, a District, or a Section Board, to submit their interest via one ONLINE SUBMISSION form by Thursday, November 30th, 2023!

    CPRS District 2 Awards Program applications are now OPEN! D2 recognizes the excellence of agencies and individuals that publicize, develop and manage programs, parks and facilities that align with the Parks Make Life Better™ brand message. All District 2 Parks and Recreation agencies (cities, counties & districts) and individual CPRS members are eligible to submit entries. All programs and projects must have been completed in 2023. The 2024 Park Forum will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 9AM - 2:10PM at Maidu Community Center in Roseville, CA. This year's event will include three educational periods with even more sessions to chose from, lunch, opportunities to network and an opening keynote session presented by Jim Wheeler, General Manager at Hayward Area Recreation & Park District. This event is geared towards administration, park professionals, park planners and more! 

    Call for Sessions are currently open for this event! Do you have an idea or topic you would love to present? If you are interested in leading a session, please submit your session proposal using the CPRS online system HERE, make sure to check mark the "D2 Park Forum" box in the "About Your Session" section. Session proposals are due by November 30, 2023. Please submit a session proposal surrounding the following themes: Technical Skills (i.e. turf management, irrigation, tree trimming, playgrounds, hands-on demo's, etc.), General Leadership, Administration, Park Planning, Contract Management, Drought Management and more!

We've made some changes to the application process this year to help make it easier than ever before to apply for funding to reach your professional and educational goals.   • D2 Doing Good 2Gether Winning Project & Day of Service - Volunteers Needed!

    District 2 would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the organizations that applied for the new Doing Good 2Gether program! We are excited to see the program was well received and that member agencies found value in this new program that allows us to give back in an impactful way within our District. Applications were reviewed by an impartial committee and scored based on how well they met program guidelines, the need for support, and community impact. Congratulations to Southgate Recreation & Park District! Their Sunrise Florin Park Court Linings project application scored the highest. Thanks again to all participating agencies and we hope you apply again during the next program cycle.

    Volunteers Needed! Join District 2 for the Doing Good 2Gether Day of Service! Volunteers are needed to help complete this project on Saturday, October 21 from 9AM - 1PM at Sunrise Florin Park in Sacramento. This is a great way to network with fellow District 2 members while giving back to our District! Paint-Friendly clothes and shoes are strongly recommended.     We are excited to announce this year's keynote speaker, Kristi McClure Huckaby, an Advocate for Parks & Recreation for Life! Kristi has over 30 years of experience in the field and has been recognized and awarded by local, state and national levels for her leadership and commitment to the parks and recreation profession. She held leadership positions with California Park and Recreation Society serving as State Board President in 2016-17, CPRS District 10 Past President, and the National Recreation and Park Association Pacific Southwest Regional Network Leadership Chair 2010-2012.   • Help Lead the Way - Submit Your Session Idea for Region 1's Fall Forum Today!

    Region 1 wants YOU to help lead the way! Do you have an idea for an educational session you would like to present at this year's Fall Forum? Session proposals are being accepted now! If you are interested in leading a session, please submit your session proposal using the CPRS online system HERE,  just make sure to check mark the "Region 1 Fall Forum" box in the "About Your Session" section. The deadline to submit your session proposal is September 15, 2023. Fall Forum will take place on Thursday, November 2 from 9AM - 4PM at the Woodland Community & Senior Center in Woodland, CA.   • 2023 Equipment Expo & Rodeo - Register Early & Save!

    Register early and save money! District 2's Equipment Expo & Rodeo is approaching & registration is OPEN. The fee is $20 CPRS Members/$25 Nonmembers, but there is a NEW Quantity Discount. Registration is only $17 per person, when you register in increments of 5, by September 15! (Registration fees include lunch) Don't wait, register early and take advantage of the savings!     This year's event is hosted by the City of Sacramento in William Land Park at the Soccer & Rugby fields (between the golf course & Fairytale Town). The event will take place on Friday, September 22 from 10AM - 2PM. Meet with vendors to check out the latest and greatest in equipment, systems and more! 

  • D2 Jerry Fox Maintenance Management School Scholarship Applications - NOW OPEN!

    District 2 is happy to announce that the popular Jerry Fox Maintenance Management School Scholarship applications are now open! If you have wanted to attend CPRS Maintenance Management School but been unable to secure funding, this scholarship opportunity is perfect for YOU! The scholarship is open to employees of member agencies or members of the Development & Operations Section, that live and work within the boundaries of District 2. Recipients will be responsible for their round-trip transportation to and from Maintenance Management School.

    District 2 is planning the annual General Membership meeting and we'd love YOUR help! We'd like your input on structure, pricing, education and more.  Please take a few minutes to fill out a short survey HERE.   • D2 Announces NEW Opportunity for Members - Doing Good 2Gether Applications Open!

    District 2 is excited to announce its newest project – D2 Doing Good 2Gether! This program was established as an opportunity to give back to an organization or agency within District 2 boundaries that needs support to complete a community improvement project. D2 will provide an agency with the people power, YOU provide the project! The D2 board and members will be invited to sign up to help bring the necessary number of volunteers needed to complete the selected project. This is a great opportunity for D2 members and the board, to give back and connect with each other, while working together to "do good" within our District.

    Do you have a project in need of support? Applications are now OPEN! The deadline to submit your project is July 15, 2023.   • City of Sacramento hosts Greenworks Demo Event!

    The City of Sacramento is hosting a Greenworks Demo event on June 13 from 10AM - 2PM in William Land Park and YOU are invited to attend! Greenworks will be demonstrating their commercial battery products including blowers, riding mowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and more! With January 2024 and the end of nearly all gasoline-powered outdoor power equipment upon us this is a great opportunity to learn more about battery powered equipment that Greenworks offers.   • Giddy Up! We're Headed to the Rodeo

    District 2 is inviting YOU to join us at the Folsom Pro Rodeo on July 1 for D2's Rodeo Round Up!

    This is a no host meet-up and EVERYONE is invited to attend! Bring your friends and family or come solo! The Folsom Pro Rodeo takes place at 403 Stafford Street in Folsom, CA. D2 encourages you to purchase General Admission tickets ($29) and to do so soon, as the Rodeo is expected to sell out! Purchase your seats for wherever you would like to sit (we don't recommend section A as it can be quite sunny there).

    On July 1, doors open at 6PM and the Rodeo starts at 7:15PM. Let us know you are coming RSVP on the Facebook event page here! So put on your boots and hats and join us for an evening of good ole' western fun at the Rodeo - Yeehaw!
